The University's eLearning fee for online classes (section 500 and 600 series classes) is $25.00 per credit hour. The fee supports the technology infrastructure for online learning, 24/7 technical support for students and faculty development and support. eLearning fees are charged for all online, websync, blended and sync-async classes.

Online, Websync, Blended and Sync-Async Classes Definitions

Fully online classes are asynchronous and do not require students to be available at a set day and time for synchronous, online activities. Exams, tests and quizzes are administered online and may require proctoring.

Websync classes have synchronous content. Class meeting times for synchronous activities will be listed in the course scheduling system (Campusnet), so students are aware of the required meeting times prior to registration.

Blended classes contain a mixture of face-to-face classes and course content conducted online, with no more than 40% of class meetings held in assigned on-campus classroom locations. In other words, a blended class is held 60% or more online. The online component of blended classes may contain asynchronous or synchronous content, but synchronous content must be aligned with the on campus class meeting times. Class meeting times for blended courses will be listed in the course scheduling system (Campusnet) so students are aware of the required meeting times prior to registration.

Sync-Async classes contain a mixture of defined online class meeting times for synchronous activities with additional online content that does not require a set day and time. Class meeting times for synchronous activities will be listed in the course scheduling system (Campusnet), so students are aware of the required meeting times prior to registration.

Copyrightable Materials

�ϰ��ϲʿ��¼�� expects all members of the university community to respect the U.S. Copyright Law of 1976, Title 17 of the United States Code. The principles of copyright law that apply to electronic course content are the same as those that apply to printed course material, regardless of whether the electronic content is textual or audio-visual, or where it is stored (e-reserves, Blackboard, for example). If permission would be required for a print use, it shall be required for an analogous electronic use.

Course Copy / Blackboard Course Shell Sharing

Faculty who teach online may wish to copy their course into another instructor's Blackboard course shell. The Center for eLearning will accommodate these requests only with permission from the faculty member who created the original content or the department chair. Requests must be submitted by the Instructor of Record in CampusNet or the Department Chair.

Continuing Education Courses

Continuing education Blackboard course shells must be requested through the Center for eLearning at least one month prior to the beginning of the course. Enrollment requests for continuing education course are submitted two weeks prior to delivery. There is a $25 per student eLearning fee for continuing education courses offered on Blackboard Learn. This fee helps to maintain the technology infrastructure, provide 24/7 technical support to participants and development and technical support for instructors.

Required Procedures & Recommended Practices to Address Security and Quality of eLearning Courses

The goal of this document is to establish campus-wide guidelines on academic integrity and quality of eLearning courses as well as to articulate the responsibilities of all parties involved (faculty, staff, students, and administration) at �ϰ��ϲʿ��¼��. This document also affirms the University's commitment to enforce such procedures and practices to support faculty and staff in handling academic integrity matters pertaining to eLearning courses. There are no perfect ways to prevent student cheating in either traditional, face-to-face (f2f) or eLearning classes. Under these circumstances, the following are required procedures and recommended practices for faculty to consider when designing and implementing eLearning courses, assignments, and assessments. These procedures and practices have been developed based on recommendations from the University Electronic Learning Committee following a review of the literature on best practices, and experiences of faculty members with teaching experience in online courses, in consultation with the Director of the Center for eLearning. The procedures and practices outlined in this document could also be applied to exams administered on the Blackboard Learning Management System..
