When the U.S. Congress initially passed a resolution authorizing a request to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 "Women's History Week," the seeds were planted for Women's History Month.

Over the course of the next five years - and after being petitioned by the National Women's History Project, Congress passes "Pub. L. 100-9"- March 1987 was designated as the first "Women's History Month."

Addendum: Women's History Month is more than just highlighting history and awareness in the ongoing fight for gender equality. Taking action against sexual assault will be highlighted during the month of April - largely recognized in the U.S. as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Mon 4/6 Our Stories, Our Voices This event aims to raise awareness of sexual violence by featuring survivor stories from our own campus community. Stories of survival will be shared anonymously (see listing above for details about submitting your story) and emotional support will be available.
