Levin College Forum Commemorates Glenville Riots
老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料鈥檚 Levin College Forum will host 鈥淭ruth and Reconciliation,鈥 a commemoration and discussion of the Glenville Riots, which occurred 50 years ago this summer from July 23 to 27, 1968. The event will feature local individuals involved in the incident as well as police officers and elected officials who attempted to address the riots and their aftermath.
The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, July 23 in the Roberta Steinbacher Atrium located in 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料鈥檚 Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, 1717 Euclid Avenue.
The panel, which is moderated by Lee Fisher, dean of 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料鈥檚 Cleveland Marshall College of Law, will feature Edward P. Kovacic, retired chief of the Cleveland Police Department and former Plain Dealer reporter Dick Peery. It will also include Glenville residents Chenoa Miller and Norma Freeman and Sergeant Vincent Montague, president of the Black Shield, the African-American Cleveland police union.
The event will close with a presentation by Andrew Collins and Jameel McGee, authors of Convicted: A Crooked Cop, an Innocent Man, and an Unlikely Journey of Forgiveness and Friendship.
鈥淭his ongoing discussion is necessary to help us as a community better understand the divisions, discrimination, and similar existing social conditions to those surrounding the Glenville uprising, come to terms with the legacy of our past, and create a safe environment that promotes collective healing,鈥 says Ronnie Dunn, 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料鈥檚 interim chief diversity officer and organizer of the event.
