House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul to Speak at ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ Republican National Convention Cybersecurity Forum July 19
Congressman McCaul among experts addressing national cybersecurity issues and policies
Texas Congressman Michael McCaul, Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, will deliver a keynote address at the Republican National Convention Cybersecurity Forum co-hosted by ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ and Baldwin Wallace University July 19. The RNC Cybersecurity Forum is the only officially sanctioned cybersecurity event during the convention and one of several nonpartisan educational events throughout the week that will highlight important policy issues in the upcoming presidential election.
Presented by ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ’ Center for Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection, housed at Cleveland-Marshall, and Baldwin Wallace University with generous sponsorship from Venafi and IQware Solutions, the Forum will bring together technology and policy experts, lawmakers and delegates to discuss innovative ways that the private sector, educational institutions and the government can collaborate to address economic and national security challenges facing the nation and develop effective and fair policies that balance security and privacy. Registration is at 12:15 p.m. and the event runs from 1 to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 19 in the Cleveland-Marshall Moot Court Room. It is free and open to the public and is required.
Congressman McCaul, a five-term representative from Texas' 10th Congressional District, chairs the House Committee that oversees the Department of Homeland Security in order to ensure it is able to carry out its core mission of protecting the American people from terrorist attacks. As Chairman, McCaul has focused on the threat of international and domestic terrorism, border security, cyber security and airport security.
In addition to Congressman McCaul’s address and Q-&-A session, Steve Belovich, Founder of IQware Solutions will deliver a keynote address and two panels will discuss national cybersecurity issues and policies. Experts scheduled to participate in the panels include: Gregory Garcia, executive vice president of McBee Strategic Consulting and former assistant secretary for Cyber Security and Communications at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Jason Mahler, Vice President of Government Affairs at Oracle Corporation; and Colonel (Ret) Marc Jamison, founder of Cyber CheckMate Consultants.
