The Galleries at 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 present two new Asian-inspired exhibitions from October 22 to December 5: A Tradition Re-Interpreted: New Work by Contemporary Chinese Artists and A Spirit Resonates: Chinese Art from the Degenfelder Collection.

Curated by 老澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 Professor Qian Li, with academic advice by Professor Zhijian Qian, Ph.D., of New York City College of Technology, A Tradition Re-Interpreted: New Works by Chinese Artists features recent works by Chinese contemporary artists who re-interpret the great tradition of Chinese art in their fascinating exploration of formal, stylistic and material aspects in the rapidly changing economic, social and cultural realities of China.

The exhibition, the first of its kind in Northeast Ohio, presents a diverse selection of Chinese contemporary artists and includes various media, including Chinese traditional painting, photography, digital animations and site-specific installations. It also addresses an array of relevant themes, including environmental issues, historical traditions, economic development and life experiences, and will communicate the impact that contemporary art has on everyday life in China.

A public gallery conversation with Dr. Qian and Diana Y. Chou, Ph.D., is planned for 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, in the North and Center spaces of The Galleries, located at 1307 Euclid Ave. in downtown Cleveland. A public reception will follow from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A Spirit Resonates: Chinese Art from the Degenfelder Collection, curated by Dr. Chou, who holds her Ph.D. in Chinese Art History, highlights Pauline & Joseph Degenfelder's collecting interests and the rich cultural heritage of Chinese and Asian art.

A public gallery conversation with Dr. Chou is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, at The Galleries.

Admission is free. Normal gallery hours are by appointment on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays and noon to 8 p.m. on Saturdays. The Galleries are closed on Sundays.
