ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ’s Department of Theatre and Dance will debut the Ohio premier of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s play In the Red and Brown Water, which is one of The Brother/Sister Plays, McCraney’s acclaimed trilogy of works set in Louisiana.

Directed by ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ assistant professor Holly Holsinger, In the Red and Brown Water is set in present day San Pere, Louisiana, and follows the struggle a gifted runner who is forced to choose between her family duties and pursuing her life goals.

In the sweltering heat of the region, Oya dreams of competing alongside star athletes. She never feels so right as when she's burning up the track. As a girl, she must choose between her dream and caring for her mother. As a woman, she's torn between the man she lives with and the man she can't live without.

The play is a full collaboration between ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ Theatre and Dance.

Performances in the Allen Theatre Second Stage run Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.
